Maria let out a dry, sarcastic laugh at Seviar's words. "Nice? You are disillusioned, young man. You will soon learn." she said in a silky sweet voice which sent shivers down spines. She turned to face Sara.
"Old fashioned, are we?" she asked. "Most vampires these days prefer beds. Much more comfortable, however we have a few rooms with prepared coffins for those who enjoy the old way of rest." she told them, leading them down a beautiful, spacious hallway where a mane of long red hair and yellow eyes peered curiously out of a bedroom door.
"Who is she?" Sara asked, sniffing the air distastefully. "She does not smell like a vampire." Maria scowled and bared her fangs in disgust.
"She isn't." she replied loftily. "She is of no importance. Here are your rooms." she told them coldly, pointing to two doors on the opposite side of the hall directly across from the mystery woman's.
Without another word, Maria strode off with her head held high in search of blood. Scenting blood nearby, she opened a bedroom door a little way down the hall, only to be disappointed. It was just Horatio, seemingly injured. Marla and Penelope were kneeling by him. "Clean up the mess. The smell of blood I cannot have irks me greatly!" she snapped icily before slamming the door shut again.

"She's such a brat, don't you think," Marla said. She hated Lady Sophia. She was compasionless, self-absorbed, and most of all, she was awful, and there was nothing Marla could do to stop her.
As they watched Horatio sleep, Marla couldn't help but think about Isabelle. She seemed so sad, so lonely. If only there was something Marla could do.
After Penelope was fast asleep, Marla snuck to the young girl's room. She stepped inside, and at first, thought Isabelle was crying. She felt compassion for the girl, she seemed to care fondly of that Armand fellow, and Marla had overheard he was going to be away for a while.
"Do you need anything, you seem a little upset. Is something wrong," Marla said. She hoped the girl wouldn't get upset, after all, she didn't need another woman to be angry with her.

Isabelle quickly withdrew her head from the crack between the door and wall. She sighed. "Of no importance..." she repeated softly.
Marla once again walked into her bedroom. Isabelle raised her eyebrows. "You do know how to knock, don't you?" she asked, a little more coldly than was necessary, but Marla seemed not to mind so much and continued to ask what was wrong. Isabelle didn't want to get into her feelings with a complete stranger, but Marla seemed pleasant enough. She was someone who didn't want to kill her, anyway which was already a vast improvement. Shrugging, Isabelle stood up and adjusted her tight, low-cut red and black corset.
"Nothing, really." she replied untruthfully. "I'm starving... you wanna come?" she asked. As much as Isabelle hated hunting, she knew it was necessary and hopefully would give the two women a chance to talk. "Oh, but... we're dead meat if we leave the grounds. There's probably a lost human or two wandering about the gardens or something." she said absently, climbing out the window and using the thick vines growing on the large sandy brick walls as a ladder.

"I suppose we must eat to survive, but, you must tell me the story of Armand, and of yourself. In return, I shall tell you mine," Marla said. Isabelle was probably more normal than Penelope, and she was sure that this story would surpass her's. After all, Marla felt no attachment to anyone, and she could feel the compassion Isabelle had for Armand, it was strong, she could tell however, that Armand was hiding something.
When they got out onto the grounds, they found two nice looking adults, perhaps a couple, wandering about. This would be an easy meal, Marla thought. They watched and waited to make their move, and meanwhile, Marla was anxious to hear this tale that Isabelle had.

"Has anyone ever told you that you're nosy?" Isabelle asked Marla with an unimpressed look, but the look on Marla's face was unrelenting. Isabelle sighed and sat down on a ledge as the young couple flirted a few yards away. "Alright... my mother was bitten by a vampire the day she gave birth to me. The doctors saved me but she died, I guess too much blood loss." Isabelle shrugged, not really knowing the details herself. "Armand found me and snuck me away from the hospital the same night. For some reason, he felt compassion for me and raised me. He used to be the leader of the Cruor Nox Noctis clan, but the Vampire Elders were so disgusted with what he did that they demoted him to the bottom ranks. He gave up his clan title in order to raise me."
Isabelle pointedly left out the relationship between Armand and Maria which enabled him to get his way in the clan most of the time anyway, along with his charming demeanor. Some things were better left unsaid. "Alright, I told you my story. Now it's your turn." she said, flicking back her long crimson hair.

Alright, although I must say, I was hoping you would forget. Well, When I was being born, Lady Maria bit my mom, killing her, and saving me. However, as you may notice, Lady Maria has no compassion for me, the only reason I am still alive is because the connection between us is too great, and if she killed me, she would be much too weak, and obviously, quite easy prey for lycans, " Marla said. She loved the story, mainly because of the way it made Lady Maria feel.
When they finished hunting, they both returned inside, and they returned to Isabelle's room. "Say you'll meet my friends, Penelope and Horatio. Please," Marla asked. She knew the girl was lonely, because she too had felt the same way before she met her friends

Ambra left the store in mid afternoon, it was cloudy out. Rain was probably coming. She clutched the book Gildo gave her close to her chest. Maybe it had the answers she was looking for. As she walked along, Ambra couldn't help but feel someone was watching her, but eberytime she looked around, no one was there. 'I must be going crazy,' she thought to herself. When she got home, she yelled to her mama that she would be busy and not to disturb her. She opened up the book, plopped down on her bed and started to read.

Tokala walked through the streets with his hood up over his face. It had been a few years since he had walked the sidewalks of the canals, and he missed it greatly. As he walked, he knew he must get to the Mansion for Lady Sophia would be awaiting his arrival.

"Your friends?" Isabelle repeated, dumbfounded. She had never had friends before. Armand had been her only friend and everyone else clearly wanted her dead, veiwing her as tainted blood.
Following her to her own bedroom, Isabelle was greeted by the sight of a woman and a man. The thing that shocked Isabelle the most however was that the man was a human! "Wait, you're a- a human!" Isabelle said incredulously, sniffing the man a second time just to be sure. Definitely human. "How is there a human that is still alive in this mansion?" Isabelle asked. "Even half-breeds are prohibited, you and I seem to be the only exceptions."

"Oh, yeah, well, since Lady Sophia can't kill me, she knows I would do something dreadful to myself, in order to weaken her, if she killed Horatio. This is Horatio, and this is Penelope, don't ask why we're friends, long strory," Marla said, pointing to the hunched blonde in the corner, standing next to the young man laying on the ground.
While Isabelle stood there speechless, Marla decided to invite her to stay with them. "How, about until Armand comes back, you hang out here, we have an extra bed, and we wouldn't want you to get killed if another vampire crossed your path, not that you can't take care of yourself," Marla said, noticing the dreadful glare she was receiving. They sat on the bed, chatting about how they wished they were still human, when Horatio awoke.
When he first saw Marla with another person, he thought she was a vampire. But, then, hearing them discuss hating their half-blood, he was relieved. Continuing to eavesdrop, he learned that the girl's name was Isabelle. Penelope was asleep beside him, so he decided to make an appearance. The only problem was, he couldn't get up.

Austin was sitting in his soft living room chair, thinking. "It's not fair that we half breeds have to take abuse from everyone except our own kind, it's not like we wanted to be this way." Austin whined to himself at his house. "I should make a clan for half breeds so we can help fight against everyone who hates us. I bet if I did that, I wouldn't have to fear going outside every night." Austin said, again to himself. "Just the lycans and the vampires. Not the humans, they are just ignorant of us, it's not their fault. I should make a sign or something to see if I get any support." he answered. "Maybe I should do this in my head, people might get the idea I'm crazy." he thought. He got to work, making posters and deciding on a name. "I shall call us Pennae Rebellis." Austin declared to himself, proudly.

Ambra was once again closing up shop downstairs, this time inbetween reading pages from her new book. The knowledge she was gaining about Vampires and other creatures, like were-wolves was amazing. At one point she was so absorbed that she didn't hear when the front door opened.
"Ciao, Ambra," whispered a voice behind Ambra.
Ambra jumped at the voice, grabbed a knife that was lying nearby and turned around to see who was behind her. She gave a sigh of relief to see it be the young man from the night before, Angelo.
"You shouldn't scare a girl like that," she scowled.
"I'm sorry, but I said hello about three times and there was no reaction from you," Angelo replied, looking a little ashamed he had scared her.
"What do you want here anyways? The back is closed, we aren't serving anymore," Ambra asked.
Angelo ignored what Ambra said and looked over her shoulder at the book she had been reading.
"That book is wrong."
"What do you mean?" Ambra gave a confused glance between Angelo and the book.
"It says werewolves can choose who they attack and can control themselves when te full moon is out, it's wrong."
"And how would you know that?" Ambra found Angelo very strange. What was he going on about? Weren't werewolves a fantasy creature?
All Angelo did for a reply was give a wicked grin.
"Are you going to continue wasting my time here? I need to finish cleaning!" Ambra snapped.
"Just watch out for the hooded man, he's following you and brings trouble with him," Angelo told her in a hushed voice, and out the door he walked.
Ambra rushed to lock the door and quickly cleaned. What was with the strange Angelo? This was the second time she had ever seen him and it was even more confusing then the first, but she also found herself hoping he would show up again.
Angelo walked away from the pizza place, away from the girl who he owed his life. She greatly intrigued him, and he wasn't sure why. He also wished he could tell her exactly what was going on, but for now decided to remain her secret guardian.

Tokala walked up tp the Cruor Nox Noctis mansion. It had been years since he had last been here. He calmly walked up to the doors and gave a knock at the heavy doors.

Isabelle chuckled with amusement and shook her head. "Thanks, but I think I'll be just fine on my own. At least while I'm on the grounds of the mansion, anyway." she told them. Sniffing the air which was rich with the scent of Horatio's blood, Isabelle licked her fangs and nodded. "Besides, all this blood wafting about in the air is making me hungry and I don't want to eat your friend." she said to Marla, before walking out the door to return to her own lavish bedroom. "I'll see you around." she said to the three of them.
----------
"Lady Sophia? There is a vampire here to see you. He insists that it is urgent." a male servant vampire said, bowing low to the ground, but snagging his cloak on a piece of furntiture and stumbling. Without a moment's hesitation, Maria quickly drew a long sharpened sword from a mantle on the wall and cleanly decapitated him with one sweeping motion, the severed head pooling blood onto the rich mahogany floors.
"Hmmm... unfortunate, but perfection is mandatory." she told herself softly, clearly feeling no remorse whatsoever as she delicately licked the remaining blood off of the long blade, placing it back on the wall where she had taken it from. Whirling around to look menacingly at another servant, her eyes narrowed to slits. "Clean it up!" she hissed malevolently, the servant immediately scrambling to carry out her orders as though terrified of the same fate.
Gracefully striding out and down the long, beautiful staircase towards the front doors, she was greeted by a tall, hooded man in the vast foyer, waiting for her. With a faint smile playing at her lips, Lady Sophia nodded, greeting the man with a traditional Italian kiss on each cheek. "Ah, Tokala. It has been a few years. To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?" she asked smoothly, clearly on good terms with the vampire.

Tokala eyed up the mighty vampire mistress in front of him.
"I have brought back the heart of the malicious werewolf leader Vicent, just as you requested 13 years ago. I hunted all throughout Eastern Canada for him and his clan, and now I have come to obtain my reward for my kill," Tokala told Lady Sophia as he dropped a bloody sack on the floor infront of her and eyed her coldly. He wondered what other tasks she might have for him now.
***************
Ambra spent the night tossing and turning, her dreams kept flashing with images of Angelo and the hooded man. Both seemed unhuman. What was going on?

Kevin pranced around the night, looking around, and trying to smell out the lycans, then he heard a footstep, then some chargin, one was behind him. No, 2, no, 7. Kevin changed into his vampire form and held out a gun to them, they stopped.
"Dont move, I got this thing loaded with silver bullets!" Kevin shouted, then, he heard a faint whistle. "Dangit Austin..."

Austin had decided to blow the whistle, just to see if Kevin would come. He also wanted to tell him about the idea, even though he was a vampire. He could be their inside source of the vampire's activities or something. He glanced at his cabinet, complete with a wooden stake to kill any unneeded vampires and a loaded gun with silver bullets to kill any lycans that decided to barge in unexpectedly. Austin smelled the familiar smell of a vampire, but it was almost completely overpowered by the smell of lycans. Austin got out his stake and his gun, and slowly opened the door...
