Why?
Well, I have received some questions from our members inquiring as to what exactly an affiliate is, so here is the run-down of what affiliates are and how they help our forum.
What is an Affiliate?
An affiliate, as defined by the Oxford Canadian Dictionary of Current English is:
--- affiliate * v. (affiliates, affiliated, affiliating) officially link a person, group or oneself to an organization. * n. an affiliated person or organization. ---
In simpler terms, an affiliate is a group of people who connect themselves to another group and advertise for each other.
How do Affiliates Help our Forum?
- Having affiliates helps our forum to grow and become more well-known and popular.
- What happens is that the two websites who have agreed to become affiliates each post an advertiseent and link on their site for the other website.
- The theory being that whenever someone visits one of the websites, they will see the advertisement for that site's affiliate and hopefully be tempted to join that site as well
- This entire process is called networking and many successful forums and websites use networking in order to attract more attention and publicity to their site.
If you have any more questions concerning affiliates that isn't outlined in this board, please don't hesitate to PM either crow or myself about it.
