Sarah and Mary Beth quickly and quietly slipped out of the common room late that night. Carrying the potion ingredients and a cauldron, Sarah looked for any sign of Filch or Mrs. Norris, then signaled Mary to follow.
When the two arrived at the girl's bathroom, Moaning Myrtle was waiting. She had never been too fond of Sarah, and was eager to see what she was up to. Myrtle watched quietly as Sarah and Beth set down the cauldron and got to work.
"Well, what do we have here? Maybe I should tell Filch that there are students out of their common room," Myrtle said screechily. Sarah glared, and turning towards Myrtle, whispered furiously, "I'm sure if YOUR parents were missing you would want to do everything in your power to find them, wouldn't you? So why don't you just keep your nose out of my business and go and cry in your stall."
Sarah was furious, she had to find her parents, and this was the only way to do it. Putting the potion ingredients in the cauldron, she watched as Myrtle sadly glided away. She felt bad for yelling at the ghost, but she was a little on edge. Meanwhile, Mary returned from watching the door.
"Mrs. Norris is coming, you might wanna hurry," Mary said. She was in a panic, and Sarah quickly put in the last ingredient. A small poof sounded from the cauldron, revealing a pink liquid at the bottom. Shrugging, Sarah poured a little into a glass, and swallowed it. Her head began to spin, and she felt herself falling.

After an in-depth interrogation from Livia about Forest Mist's and Caleb's relationship, ranging from can they read each other's minds to if Forest Mist would be her aunt someday, Caleb finally managed to drag Forest Mist out into the waiting room, chuckling embarrassedly. "Sorry about that. She's too nosy for her own good..." he mumbled. Despite Forest Mist's tomato-red face, she smiled and shook her head. "I think she's rather sweet." Forest Mist said quietly. Caleb smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, she is." he agreed.
----------
Days later, when Forest Mist and Caleb were back at the castle, Gaius Caligula dropped another update letter from Caleb's family onto his lap. His face fell as Forest Mist's heart sank.
"No change?" she asked softly. Sighing dejectedly, Caleb shook his head.
"None... except she's getting dizzy spells now." he said sadly. Forest Mist hated seeing Caleb so upset... she also hated the thought of that little girl being so sick. Caleb seemed to notice and forced a smile, grabbing her hand. "Don't look so sad, too. Come on, want to play Wizard's Chess?" he asked.
Forest Mist smiled and nodded. "Sure." she said softly, glad for any excuse to bring a smile to Caleb's handsome face.

Tara was studying in the Hufflepuff common room when Sara, her friend also in her 4th year plopped down beside her.
"Hey, how's it going?" she asked.
"Good," Tara replied, "Though if I have anymore 5th and 6th year girls come up to me and say what an idiot I am for saying Craig was boring, I might have to curse something!"
Sara laughed, "Yes well, they just see you ditched the captain of the team, not the boring person he truly is."
"Yeah, anyways, what's up with you?" Tara asked.
"Trying to figure out why I took Divination, it's messing with my head. I keep pulling the death card in tarot. It's freaking me out."
"I told you that class was nutty, and isn't the death card supose to just mean the end of something, not nessecarily death?" Tara recited, as though trying to remember something.
"Yeah, that's true. Maybe I do have nothing to worry about, " Sara said, "Oh and stop reading through me textbooks, weird-o"

As Forest Mist and Caleb were heading towards Transfiguration, they ran into a rather frightening-looking seventh year who was obviously from Slytherin.
Forest Mist had tried to avoid her, but being as timid and nervous as she was, tripped slightly and grazed the girl's elbow. She whipped around furiously and glowered at Forest Mist, making her shrink backward. "Watch where you're going... Ravenclaw!" she spat derisively. "Get lost and take your cutesy little boyfriend with you." she sneered.
Forest Mist looked down at the ground and mumbled an apology, turning to walk away, put Caleb gently put a hand on her shoulder to stop her. He took a step towards the snotty Slytherin girl with a cold expression.
"I believe you owe her an apology." he said calmly, but his tone still sounded threatening. The girl sneered and stepped forward as well, their eyes meeting on level.
"Circe Black apologizes to no one." she hissed softly in his ear. For a moment it looked as though she were about to kiss him, but then bared her pointed teeth in a malevolent grin and turned on her heel, stalking away with her nose in the air as a fidgety sixth year Ravenclaw whom Caleb recognized as his dormmate, Ricardo paced eagerly at her heels. He gave her back a dirty look.
"Hmph... so THAT'S Circe Black..." he mumbled, putting his palm to Forest Mist's cheek softly to calm her, since she was shaking slightly.
"Who?" Forest Mist asked, allowing Caleb's hand to help slow her frightened heartrate. He sighed and continued walking with her, one arm around her waist loosely.
"Circe Black is the most arrogant student in this school." he explained darkly. "No one really knows much about her parentage, but she's absolutely convinced that she's somehow related to THE Black family... famous for breeding Death Eaters back in the days of You-Know-Who." he said, then actually laughed. "Everyone knows there aren't any Blacks left that could have any connection with her and it's just her crazy imagination. Black isn't that uncommon of a name but I guess everyone wants to feel important." he mused thoughtfully.
"I suppose..." Forest Mist agreed quietly, still staring after Circe with a curious expression.

Out on the Quidditch pitch one day for pratise, Tara noticed something, actually, someone, running off into the forest. She thought nothing of it. People who went into the forest not knowing what they were to face were fools. Yet something about the shadowy figure stuck with her.
"Tara! Stop day dreaming around!" yelled Craig, he had taken a annoyed attitude towards her since their lame excuse for a date.
"Yes, yes, I'm on it," Tara replied.
After practise, Sam came up to her.
"So what were you staring at?" he asked.
"A fool who went into the forest," Tara smirked evily, "I personally hope the centaurs gets them."
Sam laughed and ruffled her red hair. The two continued to walk to the castle.

At breakfast the next morning, Forest Mist and Caleb were seated beside each other as usual, chatting quietly. A sudden clattering from the Slytherin table near them made them both turn around.
It was Ricardo and Circe. Apparently Ricardo had left the Ravenclaw table to go talk with Circe and accidentally knocked her orange juice into her lap. Circe looked furious as Ricardo shrank away from her, blubbering nervously.
"I-I'm s-sorry Circe! S-so sorry!" he stuttered with a bad lisp. Circe's gaze looked murderous as she roughly grabbed him by the collar and shoved him into the table with a rag in his hand.
"Will you quit blubbering like a handicap?" she snapped. "It's embarrassing. Clean it up!" she ordered as Ricardo bowed his head in shame, his face beat red and numbly soaked up the spilled beverage as the other Slytherins laughed and taunted him cruelly.
"That isn't right." Forest Mist whispered to Caleb, her chest feeling tight. Ricardo reminded her of herself except she had been lucky enough to find Caleb who treated her with respect. "She shouldn't treat him that way." Caleb nodded in agreement, his eyes dark.
"I know." he said, standing up to do something about it, knowing Forest Mist wanted to but was too frightened to on her own.
However, they were both met by Tara who looked outraged by the scene. Caleb tapped her on the shoulder. "What do you say we put that git in her place?" he asked, nodding in Circe's direction.

Falling, falling, falling. Sarah felt like she was in her favorite childhood book, Alice in Wonderland. When she finally hit the ground, she stood up and looked around. The room was barren other than a small window. Suddenly, Sarah heard voices in the distance. Whispering, something about a spell, and then, Sarah heard her name. Walking further along, she saw a man and woman, both about thirty. Recognizing them, Sarah walked tentatively towards them.
"Mum, Dad, is that you," she said quietly. The woman turned around slowly and stared at Sarah in shock and awe. Sarah? Oh, I knew you'd come," the woman said, hugging Sarah warmly. Sarah felt so completely happy, like it was all a dream. She then felt herself spinning again, and found herself in the girl's bathroom, with Mary Beth beside her.

Tara nodded, "Definately, that girly has been harassing everyone lately."
She walked over to the Slytherin table, anticipating an arguement. Tara loved arguements, something about the yelling made her feel good. The Slytherin girl was still yelling at the timid 6th year Ravenclaw when Tara got right up beside them, Caleb had followed and stood a couple feet away.
Tara poked at the girl's arm.
"What do you want?" the Slytherin girl snapped as she turned around, "Oh it's the Hufflepuff scum. Come to apologies for getting in my way?"
"Far from actually," Tara retorted, "I've come to stop you from treating this poor boy like a rag. No person deserves this! Where do you find the right to treat a fellow wizard like this?"
"I'm Circe Black," she hissed, "I can do what I want, when I want."
The Ravenclaw boy had stopped cleaning to listen to the two girls confrontation, actually most of the Great Hall had.
"I don't bloody care who you are!" Tara snapped, her green eyes filled with fury.
"Well you better care, because I'm going to make your life miserable you little dirty half-blood," Circe hissed, then she turned to the Ravenclaw boy, "Come on, we're finished here."
Circe started to walk away like a teacher who just taught a student a very good lesson.

"She's horrid..." Forest Mist muttered quietly and shuddered. CAleb nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. That poor Ricardo kid. He sleeps in the bed next to me. He actually doesn't seem like a bad guy. He lets her take advantage of him. I never see him talk to anyone else." Caleb told the two girls. Forest Mist peered after Ricardo. If she only had the courage to try and befriend him...
Tentatively, she cleared her throat and whispered to Tara. "Maybe we should... make friends with him..." she told her quietly. After all, it took a lot of effort for Forest Mist to talk to anyone except Caleb. Caleb squeezed her hand and nodded.
"THat's a good idea, actually. Maybe if he figures out that he can have other friends who don't treat him like a house-elf, he'll stop letting her boss him around. I mean, come on. What's the worst Circe Black can do to us?" he asked with a chuckle, having no idea of the implication of his words.

"That girl is probably all talk," Tara retorted, "You see it all the time in bullies, they won't actually act out, but yeah, someone really should try to befriend that boy."
Then Tara relieved she was late for Care of Magical Creatures.
"Oh Blubber Pus, I'm late!" she said, "I'll see you Ravenclaws later!"
She ran off and waved bye to Forest Mist and Caleb. She knew Hagrid wouldn't mind her being late, but it was her favourite class. Racing down the hill, Tara reached Hagrid's hut just in time.
"Mornin' Hagrid!" she smiled to the giant man.
"Goo' Mornin' Tara," gruffed Hagrid, "Jus' in time. E'eryone else i' back at the paddock, come on."
The two monster lovers walked back to the paddock to find it filled with students and crates.
"Nifflers," Hagrid said, "Now, I know I showed you these guys befor class, but I decided we should just do a review on them."
Then Hagrid bent down and whispered to Tara, "Plus the creatures I wanted to show you kinda escaped."
Tara giggled. It wasn't the first time Hagrid had lost a creature. She went and joined the rest of the class on observing the gold diggers.
***********
Later that day, Tara was in the library, when she spotted Circe sneaking around, eyeing things in the restricted section.
'I wonder what she is up too,' Tara pondered.

Later that day just after classes ended, Forest Mist and Caleb headed towards the Common Room to do some homework before Caleb dragged her out to the Quidditch pitch to watch his practise.
They spotted Ricardo sitting by himself in the corner of the room, staring absent-mindedly out the window. Forest Mist was the first one to notice him and bit her lip, whispering this into Caleb's ear. He spotted him as well and nodded, leading her over to him. "Hey!" he said in a friendly manner, taking a seat near him. "You're Ricardo, right?" he asked.
"U-um... y-yes, I am..." he stuttered with a terrible lisp, not looking him in the eye. Caleb grinned and shook his hand.
"I know we share a dormitory, but nice to actually meet you." he said kindly. "I'm Caleb Darke and this is my girlfriend, Forest Mist Tigerchild." he said.
"Hi..." Forest Mist whispered shyly, sitting down beside Caleb. Ricardo shook his head.
"Y-you're the s-seeker for the Ravenclaws... a-are you p-playing a t-trick on me?" he asked, eyeing the room furtively for other Quidditch players who might be in on the joke. Caleb shook his head.
"Yeah I am the seeker for the Ravenclaw team, but I'm a pretty nice guy." he chuckled. "You won't have to worry about me being a smarmy git. Forest Mist would take the micky out of me if I did. She may be a mute now, but trust me. When she doesn't think anyone but me is listening, it's hard to keep her quiet." he joked and Forest Mist smiled in amusement despite herself. Ricardo gave a nervous laugh.
"U-um... I h-have to go. Circe w-would be mad if she knew I-I was t-talking to you..." he muttered, gathering his things and hurrying out of the Common Room. Caleb sighed and shook his head.
"Poor bloke..." he muttered as Forest Mist nodded.
"Mhmm." she agreed softly.

Tara found herself walking down the hallway towards the Hufflepuff common room, highly bored. Circe had done nothing of interest or out of the ordinary.
Flopping down on her bed a few minutes later, her owl, Moonface, was pecking at the window.
"You come AFTER I lay down, you annoying birdbrain," Tara told the owl as she opened the window, "Makes me think you did it on purpose."
The owl just hooted and turned it's head to the side, offering it's leg, where a letter was attached. It was an update on her father's health. He had fully recovered from his accident, and was now at home, soon to be back at work for the Ministry.
Tara patted her owl's head.
"Thanks Moonface," she said as the owl hopped to the window and flew back to the owlery.

Circe stamped her foot impatiently as Ricardo stumbled into the abandoned girl's bathroom, looking quite flustered. "Where've you been?" she demanded angrily in a hiss. Ricardo shook with intimidation and look down at his shoes.
"I-I was t-talking to some p-people..." he stuttered. Circe's dark eyes narrowed suspiciously and she stalked forward to grab Ricardo by his collar.
"What people?" she snapped. "Haven't I told you that I'm your only friend? I'm truly the only one who cares about you, Ricky." she said, her voice going silky soft. Her tone sent shivers up spines. "Everyone in this school is out to get you, Ricky but not me. I'm your best friend Ricky, right?" she asked in a voice of mock hurt.
"O-of course you a-are, Circe." he stammered. "B-but that Forest M-Mist and T-Tara seem pretty n-nice..." he murmered. Circe gave a dry laugh.
"Nice? Ricky, they're mudblood-lovers. You don't want to get tangled up with them. Ricky, don't you trust me?" she pouted sulkily and Ricardo nodded in obediance. She gave a sinister smile. "Good. So no more talking to the mudblood-lovers, right?" she asked sweetly. Ricardo nodded, still staring at the ground.
"Y-yes, Circe." he whispered sadly. Circe looked at the sun setting outside the window and rolled her eyes.
"Look at the time we wasted with this garbage. Just go back to your Common Room." she snapped in irritation and Ricardo scurried away. Once he was gone, she looked in the mirror over one of the sinks and gave a murderous scowl. Those brats are going to pay for trying to steal my Ricky from me! she thought viciously.
----------
Out on the grounds as Forest Mist and Caleb walked back to their Common Room after Quidditch practise, Forest Mist got a searing headache. She clapped a hand to her forehead and gasped with alarm, feeling dizzy and sick all of a sudden. Caleb immediately had his arms around her to keep her from falling.
"What is it? Are you alright?" he asked with concern. The pain slowly subsided but she still felt a little woozy. She took a deep breath and nodded.
"I think so. I just got a bad pain in my head for some reason..." she murmered. Caleb frowned and brushed a strand of curly brunette hair from her face.
"You look kind of pale." he commented. "Should I take you to Madam Pomfrey?" he asked but Forest Mist shook her head.
"No, it's fine Caleb." she insisted. She was sure she'd feel better after some food and sleep.

Tara and Sam sat at the Hufflepuff table. It was breakfast and Tara was happily eating some eggs, easy over, of course. Sam was looking through a large textbook for his Ancient Runes class which he had a test on that day.
"All those symbols hurt my head," Tara commented, "How can you stand it?"
Sam just shrugged, "Because I can."
Tara shook her head and pulled out her wand, muttering a spell under her breathe she flicked her wand at the now empty plate in front of her and it transformed into a turtle.
"Well I'm ready for my practical test today. Transfiguration is SO easy," Tara boasted.
Tara then noticed Circe across the room.
"I wonder if I can turn her into a slimy newt," Tara smirked.
Sam, who was barely paying attention, looked up. Noticing who Tara was talking about, he nodded.
"Yeah, well, she would deserve it," Sam commented, "But I am pretty sure you don't have that kind of ability, yet."
Tara just nodded and she continued to glare at Circe, who noticed Tara's glare and just briefly stared back. She gave an evil looking smirk and continued to harass her Ravenclaw friend. There was something strange about that girl, but Tara wasn't sure what.

Forest Mist woke up the next morning feeling very shaky and weak. She didn't want to get Caleb all worked up and chose to ignore it. She was probably just in need of a good meal, that was all. She managed to dodge Pernitia in the stairway and make it downstairs to the Great Hall. Caleb frowned when he saw her.
"You look pale. Are you sure you're okay?" he asked her as she sat down with slightly shaking hands which she hid under the table. She nodded.
"Just a little faint, that's all. I probably just need some food." she told him, sounding as nonchalant as she could. Caleb nodded but didn't look convinced.
"Alright. Take it easy today." he warned her, digging into his bacon and eggs. As he looked over at the Slytherin table, he saw Circe staring right at the two of them with a malevolent grin on her face that sent shivers up his spine. Instinctively, he moved closer to Forest Mist and squeezed her hand with a suspicious glare at Circe. Why was she staring at them like that?
Something wasn't right here but Caleb couldn't figure out what.
