Applying To Be A Moderator
On RPF, we use a "don't call us, we'll call you" method for instating moderators. If we didn't, we'd be constantly flooded with people begging to be a moderator and it wastes a lot of time that we simply don't have.
The admins are always on the lookout for people who rise above the rest and demonstrate an impeccable sense of respect for both other members and the RPF community at large. These people have a high chance of being contacted for a moderator position.
Moderator Requirements
I. All moderators need to have a clean record. That means they cannot have broken any rule within the forum before, including both the general forum rules and the individual roleplay rules. I would strongly suggest reading these rules carefully if you want to be contacted.
II. General helpfulness and hospitality will be recognized. If you rise above the rest in being polite, friendly and helpful to all members, you may recieve a moderator invitation.
III. Moderators must have impeccable grammar and spelling skills. While the average member can get away with some minor mixups and spelling mistakes, moderators do not have this same kind of freedom. As a staff member, you need to remain professional, and typos, spelling errors and poor grammar are certainly not professional.
IV. Don't beg! You're not a dog, so don't act like one. If you ask for a moderator position or otherwise harass staff members to give you a moderator position, not only will you be denied, but you will also receive a slash beside your name for every time you do it. It's irritating and we don't like it.
V. Moderators are responsible for keeping their thread running smoothly and solving arguments between members. They are not to abuse this power in any way and are expected to be fair and just in all their decisions. If a moderator abuses their power, they will be stripped of their duties immediately and will never be able to earn their position back. They will also receive slashes.
VI. If you fit all of the above requirements and you are very active in a particular roleplay that has no moderator currently, you may be asked to moderate that roleplay. As the moderator of a roleplay, you need to be fair and not favour your own characters over others.
