Introduction
Welcome to the world of Harvest Moon, where your characters can build up a deserted, barren village, earn a living, fall in love, get married and raise a family. It is the ultimate rural living experience!
Rules
I. No emoticons.
II. No chatspeak.
III. All posts must be in character, unless within OOC brackets. Example: ((OOC: blahblahblahblah.)). Emoticons are permitted within OOC brackets, but chatspeak is not.
IV. All posts must be in third person, past tense format. Example: Darlene ran back home crying after what Greg had said to her.
V. No one sentence posts. This roleplay is meant to be read as a storybook. Make your posts as detailed and descriptive as possible. If you cannot think of more than a few sentences to write, don't write anything at all.
VI. Please post the date, starting from Monday, Spring 1st, Year 1 on all of your posts.
VII. You must start with a black heart for anyone in the roleplay and gradually work your way up. The rule will be a 30 day wait period in between heart events, so that people can't rush into marriages. Divorces are allowed.
VIII. Same-sex relationships and marriages are allowed. If you have a problem with that, you can leave the roleplay. We are a tolerant community, here. Same-sex couples can't have biological children with each other, just for realism purposes, but they can adopt children. One child at a time, please.
IX. Obviously, no killing off characters unless you have permission from the other roleplayers. No posting the other member's character's responses, either unless you have permission.
X. To adopt children, you must first fill out paperwork in the roleplay to apply for a child. You may choose the child you want right away, but you cannot take the child home with you until 60 days have passed, in order for all the paperwork to get sorted. Children must be adopted as babies. This is to ensure that people can't get grown children faster than others by adopting.
XI. Please also remember that "magical" characters are not allowed, due to complications that have risen in previous Harvest Moon roleplays on other websites concerning that.
XII. We strongly suggest you read the Relationships and Marriage chapter and the Children chapter in our Harvest Moon for Dummies thread for more detailed information about getting married and having children. Saying you didn't know any better after breaking a rule isn't acceptable. We told you to read those chapters.
XIII. HAVE FUN!

I've added the bachelors/bachelorettes from newer HM games. I haven't added them to the description thread, yet, but it's on my to-do list, I promise![/blockquote] UpdatesNone yet. The Story So Far...Since this is just a general Harvest Moon roleplay, this is going to take place in a brand new town. This town is called Bakersville. Right now, there is nothing in this town. It's up to you guys to build it from the ground up! That means you need to get to work!
Bakersville is within walking distance of Mineral Town and Forget-Me-Not Valley. You can get to Melody Town by boat from Mineral Town. All your favourite Harvest Moon characters will be able to visit and you can visit them.
Well, you've got a lot of work to do. Building a barren land into a village isn't going to be easy. So get to it! [/size]

A light breeze lifted Carmen's chestnut curls as she trudged along the dusty beaten path, not really knowing where she was headed. The young woman walked confidently, her gait marred only by a slight limp in her left leg. She stopped for a moment, wincing and rubbing her thigh with a slight frown. Her leg was acting up again. It wasn't a surprise. She'd been roughing it along these uneven trails since dawn. The sun was high in the sky now. Carmen guessed it was probably mid-afternoon.
I hope I find a place to sleep before nightfall, she thought. The idea of sleeping outside under the stars didn't really scare her, but a warm bed and a hot bath would do wonders for her leg.
A worn-out, wooden sign reading "Welcome to Bakersville" caught Carmen's attention. She looked around, expecting to see some buildings or people. There was nothing and no one as far as she could see.
She continued onward into this barren piece of land that was supposed to be a town. In the distance, Carmen spotted a small hut on the edge of a forest and began making her way there. So there was some kind of civilization here after all!
"Wha'choo doin' here in dis place?!?" a sharp voice rang out from behind her. Carmen whirled around to come face-to-face with a dark-skinned woman wearing a head cloth and colourful robes. she carried an ornate staff and along with her wardrobe, the woman wore a foreboding, suspicious expression. "Dis is mah home, ya hear me now, missy?"
"Uhhh, your home?" Carmen asked skeptically, looking around at a whole lot of nothing. "Look, my name's Carmen. Carmen Stone. Where the hell am I?"
"Don'cha read? Dat sign over dere say you're in Bakersville!" the woman snapped. "You best just be passin' through, now, ya hear? I don't like strangers comin' into mah home an' treatin' it all improper!"
"Oh Evette, calm down. No wonder no one wants to live here with you barking at them as soon as they set foot here," another voice sighed. A tanned woman with shoulder length black hair and a serene expression approached, a little boy of about five years trailing not far behind. Evette grunted.
"I don't like people ruinin' mah home with dem fancy dancy skyscrapers an' rackety tin cans on wheels pollutin' da air an' killin' all da plants!" she retorted. Carmen snorted.
"Lady, I don't think this town could turn into a city in a million years. Besides, I'm a country gal. Born and raised on a cattle farm and still looking for a ranch of my own to call home," Carmen explained with a grin. The calmer woman nodded.
"I like the peace and quiet, too. My name is Niamh. I'm a midwife and healer, or I would be if Evette wouldn't chase off any potential patients," she sighed, extending a hand which Carmen shook with a firm, masculine grip. "This is my son, Diarmid," she added, nodding towards the little boy who was now trying to catch grasshoppers a few feet away. "You say you want to start a ranch?"
"That's the plan," Carmen nodded.
"A ranch could be good for this place. It'd attract farmers at the very least," Niamh said, giving a sideways look at Evette, who reluctantly nodded with a sour look. "Don't mind Evette. She seems like an old sour melon, but she loves this place and doesn't want to see its natural beauty tarnished."
"It is really beautiful here," Carmen agreed. She was surrounded by lush forest and greenery. "I guess I could stick around and try to earn a living here. It's not like I've got anything to lose. Where's the inn?" she asked, planning on checking in and settling herself for the night. Niamh gave an amused chuckle and shook her head.
"We don't have one. There's no point in running an empty inn. Evette lives in that little house over there. Diarmid and I are staying at the inn in Forget-Me-Not Valley right now, but the plan is to move here soon, just no one's built an inn here, yet."
"So what am I supposed to do?" Carmen asked. Niamh shrugged.
"You can stay with me and my son for a few days, and make the trip to Mineral Town to see if the carpenter there will build you a place here. You might be able to find work in Forget-Me-Not Valley to earn the money to move here," she suggested.
Carmen sighed. She set out looking to build a ranch, and now she'd somehow been convinced to help build an entire village, too. Hopefully if she could get her ranch started here quickly enough, someone would be tempted to come and build an inn.
((OOC: As you can see, Bakersville REALLY needs an inn and an innkeeper. If you're interested in having your character build and run the inn, please make a profile and start roleplaying ASAP.))

"N- Niamh?" Lyla says softly. Tapping Niamh's shoulder from behing. Niamh spins around frantically to see Lyla standing their , a bouquet of flowers in her hands.
"Sorry to inturupt, I just wanted to tell you I have the flowers and vases you ordered. The rests in the boat. I need some help to c-carry the rest. " Lyla stands shyly her fingers laced together around the stems of the flowers.
"Oh my- already? It sure is a long ride on boat here from Magical Melody, is it not?" Niamh takes the flowers from Lyla. Now looking down at her son.
"Go help Lyla bring in the pretty flowers, okay?" The boy nods and scrambles over to Lyla, Happy to help. Niamh then turns to Carmen. "I know you have nothing to do right now.. be a dear and help Lyla?" She asks Carmen and flashes a smile at the newcomer.
"Flowers, Flowers!" The boy squeals, tugging at Lyla's dress. Lyla giggles softly and nods.
"Yes, yes, let's go get them, shall we?" She then turns to Carmen.
"You don't need to help.." She continues
"But I could need an extra hand." She gives a shy smile to Carmen.
(OOC: Sorry It's short, I did it carefully so I would start it off simple. )
