Welcome to the Dungeons and Dragons Roleplay
Introduction If you are familiar with Dungeons and Dragons, you probably know the basics of how a D&D roleplay works. Some of you may be more accustomed to strict D&D roleplaying where there is dice rolling and stats involved. Ths roleplay is not like that. It is loosely based off of the Dungeons and Dragons roleplaying game, and therefore not only leaves more room for story and actual roleplaying than math, but also allows people who are only mildly familiar with the game to join in this roleplay as well. Any information that is basic but needed will be posted both in this thread and in the Character Profiles thread for those less familiar with the game but still interested in roleplaying here.
What Kind of Roleplay is This? The beauty of this roleplay is that you can choose from almost an endless stock of possibilities. You can choose to be a brave warrior who goes out and earns riches and glory in battle, or you can choose to be simple farming peasant living in a small village with your family. You can develop your character's personality and views in the roleplay or you can enter into a romance with either an NPC or another roleplayer. The only limit is your imagination (and our rules, but we'll get to that later).
Rules *Co-written by Elder Fox and Ashleigh. 1. Have fun. 2. No god-modding (no making your characters too strong or invincible. 3. Follow all neoseeker wide rules. 4. Follow all Feature Roleplaying Forum rules. 5. If a rule is broken, you get a warning, if another rule is broken, you are temporarily banned from roleplay. 6. All characters must start out at the maturity age of their race or above. 7. Your characters cannot start out with romances/spouses or children. That is something your characters gain later on in the roleplay if you choose to take part in that aspect of the roleplay. The NPCs may have spouses, children and such, however but that is up to mediators to decide. 8. No OOC only posts. If you have OOC, make a BIC post under it.
Updates [No updates as of yet]
----------
Places Sandhirahn Forest: This is the dwelling of the elves, gnomes and halflings. Some half-elves and humans may reside here as well. Chisel Mountain: This is the home of the dwarves. It lies a little way to the east of Sandhirahn Forest and is about a two day trek away. Some humans and half-orcs may also reside here as well. Mount Crested: These harsh mountains are nearly uninhabitable and usually only half-orcs reside here. Mount Crested lies far to the north of both Sandhirahn Forest and Chisel Mountain and is easily a week's trek away. Sentenial Village: This is an area largely inhabited by humans and half-elves. It is a small farming community and many of the folks here are simple peasants and merchants.
----------
NPCs Caelic Firesword - King of the dwarves. Representative of the dwarven race. Arya Liadan - Queen of the elves. She's the representative of all the forest-dwelling races. She and Caelic are good friends and meet regularily to sort out their peoples' affairs. Bundy Gordon - Mayor of Sentenial village. An overly pompous man with more ego than brain.
----------
The Story So Far.... For those of you who wish to partake in the adventuring aspect of this roleplay, there is a mystery that must be unravelled. Lately, there seems to be a large number of undead filtering their way into Sandhirahn Forest and terrorizing the inhabitants there. It hasn't proven to be too much for Queen Arya and King Caelic to handle yet, but the numbers are slowly growing and Caelic and Arya are becoming more and more concerned. They've found that the undead seem to be coming from somewhere near Mount Crested far to the north, but the half-orcs do not seem to be a likely cause despite their home being there. Arya and Caelic suspect powerful magic and need brave adventurers to go seek out the source of the undead and destroy it before the growing numbers destroy their peoples' homes.
NOTE: This roleplay is a medieval fantasy, so obviously no modern technology that wouldn't have been in existence in the medieval era.

The wind whistfully blew through the trees overhead. Through the leaves, a clear blue sky could be seen and the sun was shining down on a tiny wooden hut on the edge of the Sandhirahn Forest. Inside lived an elven girl, pale in complexion and frozen in personality. Séanait was her name, and beware if you ever got it wrong. She lived alone because she couldn't stand to be with her family anymore, but that's another story.
Anyways, Séanait sat inside her cottage, cleaning the blade on her slender longsword. She had just come back from an assignment she got from a passing traveller. She got them a lot. People who needed protection, people who needed other people 'taken care of' or even just people needed to be guided through the forest. No matter what, if they paid the right price, she'd do it. Séanait just finished wiping off the last of the blood from a goblin bandit and she resheathed the blade. Then she turned to her long dagger. It's handle felt warm and familar in the palm of her left hand. This blade, it had saved her life more then once. No one ever expected her to be skilled with both hands. That was her enemy's folly.
She listened as the wind blew by outside, wondering how long until her next job would knock on her door. Quietly she cleaned the dagger and placed it in it's sheath as well. The main thought on her mind was when someone would come and ask her for aid in the undead situation that seemed to be rising about Sandhirahn Forest. For months, animated corpses and other things that were meant to stay in the rotting ground were rising. Though it didn't really concern her at that particular moment, Séanait still couldn't help but wonder who and when would make it her concern.

Kevin walked about the forest on his usual self patrol. He wasn't exactly required or forced to do it, he just did it for himself. He usually just walked about the outskirts of the small village looking for any undead creatures, for he never really got to face any and to show off some of his true skill as a sorcorer. But, for the time being, he was stuck looking through his spell book to learn new spells while glimpsing up and away from his book every now and then to see if he was going to walk into a tree or see some undead monsters. To his luck, which sucked extremley badly, he just found himself dodging, or actually walking into, trees. He found his days to grow more tirsome and more of a chore rather than an adventure, atleast until this day. He looked up and saw two moving figures in some brush. He closed his book and said the spell to seperate the book into two daggers, and stealthily walked toward the figures. There he saw it, they were zombies.
"Dang," Kevin whispered tohimself, as he was no where near the village, as he could see atleast, for there were too many trees and vines around to see. And, unfortouitously, he steped on a twig and broke it. The zombies motioned toward him and started running at him, one jumped while the other still charged. Kevin knew this tactic very well, and just decided to run away this time. Converting his daggers back into the book, he shot a few fire spell back at them, but nothing seemed to be working they still charged at him. "Time fo another spell!" Kevin shouted, reading some text from his book as roots mixed and mangled their way and grabbed hold of the zombies, slowly pulling them into the earth where they would be crushed by the pressure.
"That one was close...I need more practice..."

Luna sat next to her campsite, deep in thought. Above her was a plate that she was levitating. Suddenly, a tiny elf exited from the cottage his mouth full of cake.
"Ar the food's gone," the elf said. Frightened by the noise, Luna dropped the plate, making a loud thud on the ground.
"Ramsey, you made me drop my plate," Luna yelled. The elf twisted his foot in the dirt, drawing spirals in the soft ground.
"Sorry, I didn't know you were practicing," Ramsey said sarcastically, taking another bite of cake.
Luna quickly lept up, her blonde curls flouncing. "Ramsey, you know not to be annoying while I'm practicing. I have to hone my skills if I'm to ever get a counsel with Queen Arya," Luna scoled.
Ramsey's yellow eyes twinkled. "Sorry Princess Luna, I promise I won't disturb you again Princess Luna, PLEASE don't send me to the dungeons Princess Luna," Ramsey continued in his sarcastic, whiny voice.
Luna rolled her eyes. "You better not act that way when we meet the Queen, or she will put you in the dungeon. Have you packed our supplies," Luna added.
Ramsey rushed back to the campsite and grabbed two knapsacks, setting them at Luna's feet.
"I don't see why you're such in a hurry, we have until you finish scolding me," Ramsey whined. Luna laughed and shoved Ramsey playfully. The two then set off intot he sun, their silhouettes gleaming as the sun set. They would be out of the forest by nightfall, provided Ramsey wasn't distracting.

As Xephrine made her way towards the densely shrouded Sandhirahn Forest, she mused quietly to herself as she usually did from having spent her entire life thus far in solitude with other monks. Would Queen Arya and King Caelic even allow her entry into their chambers? She had heard tales of these two legendary leaders, however she knew nothing of their personalities. All she knew was that they needed help and Xephrine was here to offer it.
She neared the wooded area and made her way through the settlements largely inhabited by elves and gnomes, but there were quite a few forest-dwelling races here. She stopped an elven woman with a small child on her hip. "I need to speak with your Queen. Do you know where I may find her?" she inquired.
"Keep walking east and you will find her dwelling. It is fit for a Queen so you will know it when you see it." the woman replied in broken Common. Nodding her thanks, Xephrine followed her directions.
----------
"This is troubling, Arya. Very troubling." King Caelic mused anxiously, stroking his long dwarven beard. The elven woman adorned in jewels and feathers sighed and rested her chin in her palm.
"Indeed. Have they been reaching your lands as well?" she asked, her emerald green eyes glowing in the candlelight of the massive hollowed Oak. Caelic grunted and nodded.
"A few have, yes. It isn't as bad as the raids in your Forest yet though if things continue, we could be facing an onslaught." he told his most trusted friend gravely. The Queen shuddered and put a long slender finger to her temple in thought as a young gnome servant entered timidly.
"Yes, Gershwin?" Arya asked, her eyes still closed, making even Caelic uneasy. The Queen's uncanny abilities for knowing things that others normally wouldn't amazed even him.
"There is a human here to speak to you and the King, Your Highness. We have asked her to wait until the appropriate hours, but she insists that it is urgent." he squeaked. Arya glanced at Caelic who shrugged. These were her lands. She made the decisions here.
"Very well. Please bring her in, Gershwin." The Queen permitted. With a bow, the little gnome hastened away to carry out his orders.

Séanait eyed her empty storage shack that sat behind her house furiously. She had gotten hungry, and someone, some fool, had made off with her supply of salted meat. She thought to herself the many painful ways she would make the person pay if she ever got who was stealing from her storage, but for now that had to wait as she now had to go out and hunt. Then another thought crossed her mind. Why work for some meat when she had enough gold to go by food in the local village?
Going back into her hut, Séanait grabbed her belt, which had her long sword and long dagger's sheaths attached to it and placed it around her slender waist. Fastening it, she eyed her long bow. It was probably not needed, so she slid it under her bed and exited her hut.
It was a fair bit of a walk to Sentenial Village from Séanait's hut, but a walk that Séanait didn't mind at all. Upon entering the village, stares followed the elf. Not many elves lived here, though one could spot the half-elves that felt more at home among humans.
Thristy from her walk, Séanait decided to find a pub, before she set out to buy some stocks of meat from the local merchants. She stopped a local half-elf walking by lightly grabbing his shoulder.
"Where can I find the local pub?" She asked harsh voice.
The half-elf boy just pointed down the streets as he tried to avoid her frozen stare. Séaniat released him and continued down the road.

Kevin layed down for a bit, right up against some random tree. Luckily the tree was alive and healthy, so it didn't crack and fall as he plummeted down as he really just fell into the tree by tripping on a root. He looked about and had noticed he really was pretty far away from his dwelling that was granted to him by Queen Arya. His roomate was a chipper fellow, but he really couldn't remember if he had any intrest in fighting. The only thing Kevin really knew about him was that he was a dwarf who liked to keep to himself, which then suggests the unsocialistic being of not talking to Kevin about intrests. To Kevin's suprise, he felt a low rumbling underneath him, so he tryed to get up and climb up the tree, but the sudden jerk of a hand comming from the ground and grabbing his leg sent Kevin into a spasm and kicked where the hand was grabbed to free him. Sadly his missed the first time and hit his shin, and then got the hand the second time. He scrambled into the tree and found that one of the zombies had survived, but was badly damaged. To his fright, Kevin noticed his spell book was still down there, and the zombie consumed it whole, reviving its body with the books magic.
"Dang...there goes my daggers...oh well, time to send this thing back to hell." Kevin then held his hands out and let the magical energy flow as he gave life to the roots below and they grabbed onto the zombies feet and held it in place. Kevin jumped down and landed with one fott onto the zombies face, but completlet knocked the head off which rocked his balance into a stumble down a random hill, the head of the zombie rolling after him. The moans were too monotonal and very hypnotic to Kevin, which started to make him go a little bit insane. When he made his landing he looked up to see the body o the zombie falling down from the sky, or atleast from the top of the hill, and attempting to land on him. Kevins only hope was to possibly incinerate it, and so he tryed generating a fire from the magic inside of him, but it was no luck, he definatley did need more practice.
"I guess when you live in a place surrounded by plant life you take too much time in nature spells for max effect...hmm...I'll try once more!" Kevin yelled as he ducked out of the was of the body as it slammed into the groun below, breaking off a leg. This time it was to his sucess, but it wasn't that big of a fireball, only big enough to consume the corpse and nothing more. Kevin then rushed back to his dwelling in order to get some rest.

"What do you suppose would be so infernally important as to disrupt you outside the appropriate hours?" Caelic grumbled moodily. Arya gave him a gentle but slightly patronizing look.
"It may not be important at all, but what kind of Queen would I be to my people if I turned away those wishing to speak with me?" she replied with another question. Caelic had nothing to say to this and chose to continue muttering.
"May I present young Xephrine Ulstrah." Gershwin said, leading in a tall, dark skinned, muscular young woman with a set jaw and determined gait. Arya nodded gracefully and seated herself regally.
"Thank you, Gershwin." she told him kindly. The little gnome bowed quickly and left and the Queen eyed Xephrine with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. "Welcome, Xephrine. Tell me, what is it that you felt was so urgent to talk to me about?" she asked, folding her long pale slender hands in her lap.
"I have come to offer my aid to you and King Caelic Firesword." Zephrine said rashly without a bow or acknowledgement of Arya's stature. Caelic growled angrily and made to stand up to put this young human in her place, but Arya gave him a stern look and he reluctantly sat back down, grumbling. The Queen was not the type to demand frivolous and silly displays of honour that took up precious time.
"If it is help you are willing to offer, then I gratefully accept." she said calmly, with no trace of irritation at Xephrine's blunt and coarse first impression. "It is late in the day and I assume you are a traveller?" she asked as Xephrine nodded. "Very well. You may stay here in the guest chambers. I'll have Gershwin show you to your room. Tomorrow morning, you will set out to find the source of these undead. I strongly recommend you find a party to travel with." she warned.
((I know it's kind of a crappy post. Sorry.))

By the end of the night, Luna and Ramsey had barely made it out of the forest. Ramsey was sleeping peacefully on the ground, though he was snoring rather loudly. Luna however loved nighttime, and usually stayed up until midnight honing her powers. She was levitating her bag when an undead walked up slowly behind her. Luna used her unique skill of sensing presences of evil, so she quickly dropped her bag and lifted herself up, swivel kicking the creature. Soon, many more came, and Luna was surrounded.
"Ramsey, uh, can you get up? I think we have a situation," she said, kicking Ramsey. Ramsey, in response merely rolled over and snored loudly. Luna sighed, and used her telepathy to send the creatures on one side flying. However, they quickly got up and returned. Luna began to panic, and moved them back again. This time, however, she grabbed her bag and awoke Ramsey, and the two ran, Luna shooting sparks and flying the undead into each other. Luna fended off as many undead as she could, finally getting most of them away, at least for now. She had to get to Queen Arya, to find out where these creatures were coming from.

Cleary stumbled and fell. He wasn't used to this much walking or this much falling for that matter. He hastily picked his familiar Gunhilda from the dirt road that ran toward the hollowed oak that made for Queen Arya's home. Gunhilda's thanks a lot! sentiment shot through his mind but he ignored her.
"Look let's just get to the tree let her tell us she doesn't have anything worth our time, sleep at the inn for a night and then we can go home." He scolded the toad.
Are you sure she won't have something for you?
"Look around it's completely peaceful. What she going to ask for? Worst case scenario she needs her library re-arranged. And I know I can do that. Or maybe she needs some rats killed..."
Do I need to remind you of the last time you went up against rats? If I remember right we were still running when your mother found us.
"I'm telling you that was a Dire Badger at least! Maybe a Were-rat but no way was it a regular rat!"
Whatever you say...
Their argument was cut short, they had arrived at the Queen's oak as a frightened looking gnome held a hand out to Cleary. "What is your business?" He asked curtly.
Cleary straightened his stance. "I am Catheloon Yallarn from the University of the Southern Elven Province. Son to Feran and Thallandria. I have come to offer my services to Arya, I know an old acquaintance of Her's and am also bearing a message from him."
((Ashleigh, are you playing the queen?))
Ashleigh Edit: Arya and Caelic are both NPCs so they are playable by everyone. However, I've posted both of their completed profiles and if anyone needs to use them, they should read through their profiles to keep their histories and personalities accurate.[/size]

Séanait sat at a table in the back corner of a shabby pub. Sipping on what was poor quality Eleven wine, she analyzed all who was in the room. The bartender was a middle-aged man, with a running hairline and scars on the left side of his face. Apparently, from the babbling he spewed while she was served, he too was a mercenary back in his prime. The tables were mainly filled with other human males, gambling and gabbing while one of the bar wenches, a young half-elf girl, tried to flirt tips out of the drunken fools.
One table, though, had Séanait interested. It was one not too far away from her own, off to the left. There, a dwarven man talked with two human men and a femal gnome. The dwarf was obviously a fighter in his own right, budlging with muscle and a battle axe by his feet. The two men appeared to be a paladin and a ranger, or so Séanait guessed by the swords and bows they had by their sides. The gnome, she assumed was a wizard. What else were gnomes good for anyways? she thought. No matter what the gnome was, the assemblence of such varied characters meant they were adventure-ers. People set out to find glory through deeds, or something like that. Listening carefully, Séanait decided to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"So that's it then, we're going into the forest," the dwarf said as he slammed down his tankard of ale.
"Aye," said the paladin-looking human, "If rumours are true, there are undead in there, needing to be rid of."
The gnome girl nodded, " And glory and riches to follow."
Undead? Séanait had heard stories that the people deep in the forest had been having troubles, but this was the first she had heard of the trouble being zombies. Why hadn't anyone come to her for help ridding these creatures? Surely people of the forest had heard of her reputation of leading and protecting others who ventured the forest. No matter, maybe it was a new problem and would be a little while before they saw they needed her help. Whatever the case, Séanait found she had sit too long. Draining her goblet, she got up from the table and left the pub to finish her errands.

Cleary entered the cavernous oak following the gnome.
"May I present Catheloon Yallarn of the southern University!" Gershwin annouced as he entered.
Cleary tried to walk with the dignity appropriate to a palace but his inherent akwardness couldn't but show through. He was well trianed though in formal matters, and he bowed low first to Arya and then to Caelic. On the second bow Gunhilda flopped from his shoulder and fell to the ground. He scrambled to pick her up and was sure he heard the dwarven king laugh. He straightened up embarassed but determined to finish his task. "Honourable Queen Arya, I have come bearing a letter and a personal request" with that he pulled from beneath his outer robe a slightly bent letter tied in black cloth. Gershwin swooped in grabbing the letter from Cleary and placing it in the hand of queen Arya. "It is from an aquantance of my mother who claims you and King Caelic's friendship."
Caelic was becoming impatient "Can we end with the beaurocratic clap-trap. Who's it from?"
Cleary opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Queen Arya herself "Ilk'Na..." She was silent for a long while, Caelic looked troubled for a moment and then contemplative. "Very well," Arya finally said as she unwrapped the letter. "let us see what the Master of the Dead Tongue has to say..."

Séanait was placing the last stock of meat on the shelf of her storage shack. Closing the door, she locked it tight. She really should of bought some sort of spell to place on the shack, but Séanait couldn't be bothered. Spells didn't satisfy as much as catching the thief and punishing them herself.
As she walked back to her hut, Séanait heard a shout in the forest. Tuning her delicate elf ears to hear the call, she heard it to be a human voice, male, she was pretty sure. Going around to the front, she saw a man walking down the path in the distance. Séanait took a seat on a bench outside the front of her hut and started sharpening her long knife. The man would be here soon enough.
About 10 minutes later, the man reached the front of her property. He carried a travellers pack on his back, and held a walking stick in his hand. He looked scruffy, as though he had been travelling for many days. He looked at Séanait with deep brown eyes, possibly hoping for hospitality. Instead he got typical Séanait.
"What do you want?" She asked.
The man looked startled at what she asked.
"I am sorry miss, but I have been walking for many days and am very tired an- " He started until Séanait cut him off.
"That is all very well, but if you want a travellers shelter, it's a couple miles down the road," Séanait snapped.
The man looked slightly annoyed, "Well fine then, but then I guess I'll have to find someone there to help me revenge my friends against the mob of undead that attacked not just a day ago," he stated.
A gleam went through Séanait's eyes, one so cold it could be mistaken for evil. Here was another chance for blood and money.
"Well, why didn't you say so in the first place?" She asked with an selfish grin, "I am Séanait, how may I be of service?"

Luna and Ramsey had walked for hours until they finally reached the king and queen's palace. Luna was in awe, the place was unlike anything she had ever seen. Rushing up to the door of the palace, Luna lifted the brass knocker and let it fall. A resounding thud rushed to Luna's ears as her entire body tingled in excitement.

((Arya is now my main character. Xephrine is an NPC. I hope everyone is alright with that. Chris, I have no clue what Arya's supposed to know about Ilk'Na so this post is going to seem vague.))
Arya thought for a moment, her green eyes unfocused as she stared into space. Ilk'Na... she hadn't heard that name in a long time. Caelic scrutinized his friend closely, looking for any sign of distress on her lovely features but there was only quiet musing.
"Are you going to read the letter?" Caelic asked impatiently, tapping his booted foot on the oak floor. Arya gave him an exasperated look.
"Yes," she replied, unfurling the parchment and clearing her throat with almost unnatural elegance. Caelic shot a suspicious glare at the messenger, Cleary.
"Are you sure you would rather read the letter out loud with this one here?" he rasped, penising his head in Cleary's direction.
"He delivered the letter. He deserves to know its contents. I'm sure young Cleary knows the implications of betraying royalty," she said. This did not sound like a threat. When Arya spoke, it rarely did, however those implications were still all too clear.
Arya began to read in her velvet voice.
((Chris you can post her reading the letter.))
